Curriculum and training at VU’s Logistics and Training Education Center will range from a basic material handling course to an Associate’s Degree in Supply Chain Logistics Management. These programs will provide students with skill sets for obtaining entry level, supervisory, and mid-level management supply chain positions.

Warehousing and Material Logistics 24 class hour certificate program uses the MHIA curriculum as the basis of the course. Students will be instructed on the basic functions of warehousing and material handling. Upon completion, students will be able to function in warehouses and be competent in using those skills in industry employment. Areas of Content include concepts of warehousing and material logistics, movement, storage, control and protection.
Tractor-Trailer Driver Training - Class A Six-week training program is designed to prepare students to enter the tractor-trailer driver marketplace at an entry level driving position. Included in the training are 80 hours of classroom instruction relating to federal regulations governing commercial motor vehicle operation, inspection procedures, proper maintenance practices and vehicle safety; 80 hours of instruction on the backing range learning to master a variety of backing skills; and, 80 hours of road driving instruction. Students can expect to pull loaded van trailers under a variety of conditions, including two-lane roads, expressways, night driving, hilly terrain and driving city streets during heavy traffic. Students can expect to spend at least 45 hours behind the wheel on the backing range and road driving combined, logging approximately 30 hours or 1000 miles of road driving. Classes are offered during the fall and spring semesters and during the summer sessions.
OSHA Forklift Certification – Powered Industrial Truck T12 class hour certificate program uses the OSHA curriculum as the basis of the course. Students will be instructed on the basic functions and operations of the powered forklift. Upon completion, students will be certified to drive forklifts in warehouses and be competent in using those skills in industry employment.
Supply Chain Logistics Management – Associate’s Degree 71 credit hour program prepares students for a variety of entry-level positions in the field of Supply Chain, Logistics, and Distribution. In addition, courses are designed to assist employed persons in upgrading their skills. The curriculum includes a core of business education as well as specialized training in procurement, transportation, production planning and scheduling, and materials management. The development of managerial skills useful in a variety of job situations is emphasized.
Supply Chain Logistics Management – One Year Certificate 27 credit hour certificate provides background for persons who are interested in more efficient ways to distribute and manage their products. The curriculum includes several basic subject areas such as accounting, computer software and e-commerce, operations and materials management, as well as total quality control. This provides an excellent stepping-stone to the Business Management degree program.
